Coil basket in process
Weaving a  pouch/purse
Composing on a bead loom from a design drawn on graph paper...the possibilities are only limited by one's imagination!
The elementary students (ages 6-9) wove the above tapestry of their new school on a 24" wide floor loom while looking at a photograph of the school. The mosaic tile frame was also made by these same students.
The above photos show completed tapestries woven using simple off-loom techniques. The photo on the left shows a tapestry in the process of being woven, with the student's design on graph paper shown beneath the weaving. The displays in the background are from the end-of-the-year art show. Woven pieces, bead loom work, and still-life paintings can be seen.
Above right: After using blue paint to write the student's name in Japanese characters on the white warp, everyone wove through their names. The final result was a 15 foot long weaving that was displayed at the art show.

Above left: A 3-D tumbling block effect is achieved utilizing a technique called "triaxial weaving." Both the 2nd and 3rd elements are woven through the first vertical one on a 60 degree angle. The handmade "needle" is used to pass the ribbons over and under the others using a twill pattern to get the desired end result.

The ancient method of "tablet (card) weaving" is used to create unique designs. The finished objects can be used as belts, bookmarks, bracelets, etc. (shown above are 3  student exampes)
